DeTour, Michigan

Our time in the waters of North Channel came to an end after clearing customs at Drummond Island and pulling into the marina at DeTour, Michigan.
This quiet little village is located in the U.P. (Upper Penninsula) of Michigan.

The marina's docks were all brand new and this was the first time Spiritus' slip had been occupied.
It was sooooo new, the spiders hadn't even had time to move into the electrical boxes on the dock!!

The sunshine, fresh air, and the spacious new docks just make a guy wanna dance!

A local artist made good use of this old tree trunk by carving a memorial to the local fishermen.
This Passage Maker, looking out at the lake, stood about 20 feet high.

The Captain of Pazza Bella challenges the Captain of Spiritus to a game of shuffleboard at a local bar.
The guy in the bright shirt wound up paying for the beers!

Walking back to the harbour after a humiliating shuffleboard defeat, we notice that a few of our fellow Loopers have arrived while we were gone.

A gathering of Loopers who are happy to be back in the USA!

The next day, a challenge from the Captain of Aurora is accepted.
The First Mate of Spiritus tries to win back some "boat family" pride but is not successful!

So at dawn's first light, we slip the lines off the dock and set sail for Mackinac!
