Demopolis to the Top of the Tenn-Tom, August 2015

At "docktails" one evening, our group of friends marveled at how many years the
dredging has been taking place at Kingfisher Bay Marina in Demopolis.
"Forever Dredging Bay" was deemed a more appropriate moniker & T-shirts were promptly ordered!

Trying to capture the beauty of the early-morning stillness on the Tenn-Tom
 soon after departing Demopolis.

The early bird may catch the worm, but the early fisherman doesn't always catch the fish!

The white cliffs of Eppes.

What are the odds that a train would cross the trestle over the river just as we are going under it?

The anchorage at Cochran Cut-Off allows you to sit & watch the river barges go by . . . . .

. . . . . as well as dive under the boat to check the shaft zincs!

I don't care WHO you are, THIS is just darn pretty!

Full moon rising in Mississippi, over the Columbus Marina.

Our friends, Jessie & Jean Carroll, are developing property for a new house on the Tenn-Tom.
AFTER they build a boat dock they intend to start on the house!

The First Mate is "playing" with my breakfast!
It's hard to find good help!

Our friend aboard Lizard took these pictures of Spiritus entering the Whitten Lock.
An 84 foot lift; that's only about 12 million gallons of water!!

The bow and stern view at our anchorage in Bay Springs Lake, Mississippi.

No shirt, no shoes, no bathing suit, no problem!

A quiet moment to reflect & remember my "Sis", Marti Jahnke,
whose guitar I will always cherish.

"The Cut", which connects the Tennessee and Tombigbee Rivers,
required more earth removal than any other canal construction project in the world!

Jim Swallow, aboard Lizard, snaps a few shots of Spiritus as she passes him in The Cut.

Spiritus gets a well deserved two days of rest at the top of the Tenn-Tom Waterway.
We are tied up at Aqua Harbor Marina, which is in Mississippi,
but the land just off our bow is in Tennessee!
