Southeast Lake Michigan

Down Time leads the way in the breakwater leading to the town of South Haven, Michigan.

This entrance channel is well-marked by a beautiful 37 foot tall red flashing light.

Sun-seekers enjoy access to a marvelous beach at South Haven.

The crew of Pazza Bella pose with Captain Eddy enroute to our traditional "lupper" (late lunch, early supper).

A look at the marina as we walk up the hill into town.

"Clementine's" provided a unique setting for lupper as well as outstanding cuisine!

What fishing village would be without an "Old Harbor" pub, t-shirt shop, and fishing tackle store?

The blend of historic fishing fleets, quaint downtown, a variety of restaurants and clean sandy beaches make this stop a delight!

Boater's Rule # 12:
"If something needs fixing, it will invariably be in an incovenient, hard-to-get-at location."
Captain Eddy is trying to fix the broken autopilot.

Departing the harbor at South Haven, Lake Michigan looks endless!

Notice the smile on"Hands-free Captain Eddy"... he fixed his auto pilot!
Notice the ice pack on Captain Eddy's elevated leg ... he took a nasty fall on the dock!

After hours of lake cruising, it's always comforting to see the channel markers.
Each of them have their own unique style & personality as they proudly identify their safe harbor.

As we cruise into the St. Joseph/Benton Harbor, we are amazed at all the boats lining the channel.
The dockmaster said all these boats would be hauled out within 2 weeks to be stored for the winter, creating a ghost town.

St. Joseph's boardwalk is lined with eye-catching sculptures . . . . . .

. . . . . . use your imagination to figure out what this one is!

When we arrived at our marina, 4 Looper crews decided to have pizza delivered for our evening gathering.

Spiritus has a peaceful view of sailboats moored at Michigan City, Indiana. (sounds funny, doesn't it?)
This is the last harbor town we'll stay at prior to crossing Lake Michigan to Chicago.

The crews on Pazza Bella, Journey, Down Time, and Spiritus walk to "Matey's" for a hearty meal.

The ladies treat themselves to an afternoon of shopping at the Lighthouse Outlet Mall.
This mall has over 100 specialty shops and is within walking distance of the marina.

Check out the sun melting into Lake Michigan as seen from Spiritus' flybridge.  Ya gotta' love it!
