Kingston is the best-kept secret north of New York City! It is nestled at the foot of the Catskill Mountains on the Hudson River.
Excessive rainfall caused flooding & lock damage on the Erie Canal, located about 50 miles north of Kingston.
Because the Erie Canal has been closed, we are able to explore this vibrant community for an extended period of time.
So..... what does the crew of Spiritus do while waiting for the Erie Canal to open?
We welcome Mike & Cindy(center), from the infamous 22 ft sailboat, Aurora, to our Looper dock.
We enjoy potlucks with fellow Loopers.
We celebrate the 26th anniversary of Looper friend's, Tom & Melesia, & our 39th anniversary with Melesia's father.
We celebrate Father's Day at an Irish Pub and toast Linda's dear father.
We take hikes with crazy Loopers!
We explore the Rondout Lighthouse, the newest & largest on the Hudson River.
We walk across the suspension bridge above Spiritus . . . . . .
. . . . . . to find a laundromat . . . . . .
. . . . . AND ice cream!!!
We enjoy Cindy's special round pancakes, ebleskivers, at our Looper Brunch. . . . .
. . . . . and we have lots of yummy food because Loopers LOVE to eat!
We indulge in Mike & Eddy's scrumptious grilled steaks . . . . . .
. . . . . and we follow the gourmet dinner with tubs of ice cream & a game of Doodle Dice!
Happy Hour at "Mole Mole" . . . . .
. . . . . can't really compare to Happy Hour on Spiritus!
As you can tell, we are enjoying this lovely setting, filled with historic buildings, eclectic cafes, friendly folks . . . . . .
. . . . . . and the cutest "Looping" puppy dog, Mango!
In fact, we have the youngest Looper, Mango, (6 months) & the oldest Looper, Hank, (1080 months) right here on our dock!
(And the Captain claims we have the prettiest Looper, too!)
As we await the opening of the Erie Canal, we are thankful to be in such an amazing place with breathtaking river views!!
