A Little Time at "Home"

Back in home waters, Spiritus is ready for her haul-out.  She will get her bottom painted and some engine maintenance that is beyond Captain Eddy's expertise!

Aboard Spiritus at our homeport, we enjoy homemade chocolate-dipped strawberries and an excellent merlot with Bev & Doug!

Our trusty mechanic, John, pressure washes the bottom of Spiritus in preparation for her new bottom paint.

Can you tell which side has been pressure washed??

While our "home on the water" was in the boat yard, we moved into the Visiting Officer's Quarters at NAS Pensacola. . . . . seemed like a mansion after three months on Spiritus.

We enjoyed several evenings on our private balcony, where we could continue the fine tradition of "docktails" at sunset!

Captain Eddy inspects the three coats of new bottom paint prior to Spiritus' return to the water.

The crew prepares to lift Spiritus into the slings.

Moving ever so slowly, Spiritus is carefully carried back to the water by the boat lift.

Mom J prepares a Filipino "feast" for us during our week long visit at her home in Fort Walton Beach.

Mom J definitely has a green thumb when it comes to gardening.  And at 85 years "young", her energy never ceases to amaze everyone!

My "Sis", Tammie, hosted a dinner celebration for my birthday.  Thankfully, she didn't put the traditional one candle for each year on the cake!!!

Showing off my new Sailor's Grill / Juana's Pagoda T-shirt that Sis gave me!

Mary & Pop, Tammie's parents, helped make the evening even more special.  Ten years ago they flew from Montana to celebrate my 50th......you do the math!

The Captain and his favorite women!
We plan to set sail once again on Thursday, November 8th.  Stay tuned for more pictures from the water's edge.
