Georgia's Coast

We departed Florida at sunrise, crossing into Georgia as the sun lit up the waterway.

We passed huge ships at the Naval Submarine Base at Kings Bay.

Spiritus is happy to be secured to the floating dock at Jekyll Harbor Marina.

Jekyll Island is a magical wonderland.  The colorful azaleas were in full bloom.

We walked more than 6 miles on the well-designed bike/walking trails.
Here we are crossing the saw grass that is home to so many different birds and creatures.

Jekyll Island was once an exclusive resort.  The Old Clubhouse, pictured here, is an impressive sight.

We watched a game of croquet being played on the well-manicured front lawn.

We walked to Dunes Beach on the Atlantic Ocean but it was definitely too cold to swim!

But it's NEVER too cold for an ice cream treat!

Our day started with a calm, serene departure from Jekyll Island . . . .

. . . . as the sun peeked over the horizon.

We spotted the Brunswick Bridge in the distance, eerily reminding us of Tampa's Sunshine Skyway Bridge.

The Georgia seagulls were as friendly as the Florida seagulls.
In fact, they dropped a "present" on the First Mate's head!!

These cormorants are posing for a picture as we cruise by!

After successfully dealing with the tides during our 8-hour cruise, we set our anchor at Walburg Creek and toasted to another fabulous day.

Our buddy boat, Hydrophilic, anchored with us at Walburg Creek and took this picture of Spiritus at sunset.

It was a 7 hour cruise from Walburg Creek to Thunderbolt Marina near Savannah.
Spiritus is sharing the face dock with Sabbatical, another Looper boat.

The dock wall clearly shows the extreme tide changes:  9 feet!!!

It was fun sharing stories and eating fresh seafood at Tubby's Tank House with fellow Loopers.

The next morning, the Captain is thrilled to indulge in complimentary Krispy Kreme donuts!
With this kind of service, we may never leave Thunderbolt Marina!!
