Central Lake Michigan

Cruising this Great Lake, we discover that Michigan has more than 100 lighthouses . . . . . .

. . . . . . the most of any state . . . . . .

. . . . . . all with their unique style . . . . . .

. . . . . . and personality!

We can't get over the number of sand dunes along Michigan's western shore.

From our slip at Ludington's Municipal Marina we get to see the huge ferry, Badger, start her twice daily run across the lake to Manitowoc, Wisconsin.

One of many beautiful statues found throughout the town of Ludington.

Without a doubt, THIS is a fishing community!
We had never seen so much boating activity as we witnessed in Ludington.

At the municipal marina, the city provides a first class cleaning station for her fishing enthusiasts.
We watched this fisherman clean and filet three very large salmon.

A statue at the nearby park that pays homage to the city's seafarers.

And not to be forgotten, the area's long heritage of farming is recognized with these statues.

"Follow the leader!"

Captain Mike of Pazza Bella pops the cork of a special bottle of champagne.

Our two First Mates raise their glasses to toast to another great day on the water!

Spiritus is anchored near a race mark while in White Lake and provides us with exciting front-row seats!

An historic old lighthouse at White Lake is now a wonderful museum.

Looking down river from our slip at the town of Grand Haven, a very large ship winds its way toward us.

Across the river from Spiritus' slip is a somewhat pleasant and ordinary hill in the day, but . . . . . .

. . . . . at night it becomes the backdrop for a fantastic water & light show!

Since 1962, the city of Grand Haven has entertained people with the world's largest musical fountain.

Colorful flowers line the pedestrian sidewalk all along the waterfront.

Beautiful flowers and glistening water reflecting on pretty white boats.

A day without ice cream is like a day without sunshine!
