Living at Legacy

We have been at Legacy Harbour Marina "wintering" in sunny Ft Myers for almost a month now.

We never tire of walking the beautiful City of Palms.
Every street is adorned with Palm Trees which provide a tropical atmosphere.

The vibrant, colorful foliage reminds us that the temperature never gets down to freezing . . . .
. . . . and that's why we're here!!

We enjoyed our own private tour of the Edison-Ford Estates with the Gold Looper group.

Linda was thrilled to discover one of Edison's favorite games was Parcheesi.
In fact, her Grandma & Grandpa Pennington had this very same game!

Hard to believe that all the building materials for Edison's home were either imported from Europe or shipped from New England and brought ashore on this dock.  Anything is possible when you are one of the richest men in the world!

Do you recognize these vintage vehicles from Ford's collection?

Eddy relaxes with Mrs. Edison in one of her many gorgeous, exotic gardens.

The banyan tree on the Edison-Ford estate is quite impressive.
The "mother tree" is located in India and covers 14 acres!

Check out the sinks in the restroom at the downtown eatery, " Ford's Garage" . . . . .

. . . . . and the door handles are noteworthy too!

Our boating  friends, Jeanne & Kenny, who were stuck waiting for the Erie Canal to open when we were doing the Great Loop, came to visit us from Stuart, FL.

We learned not to dare Kenny to climb a palm tree!

Live music can always be found in the downtown streets of Ft Myers.  This was a kilt-wearing celebration!

Walking downtown in Ft Myers sunshine brings out the "Happy" in our fun friends, Lolly and Jeff!

And receiving a goodie package filled with Mom Pennington's homemade treats brings out the happy in Eddy & Linda!

Eddy and Linda wish they could send some of this glorious sunshine to their relatives who are shoveling snow.

Another dramatic ending to a blessed day!

Gold Looper Reunion at Legacy Harbour

It is exciting to see all the boats at Legacy Harbour!
Most of the boats either fly a white AGLCA burgee to signify they are currently on the Great Loop or fly a gold burgee to signify they have completed the Great Loop.

Eddy and Jeff had the honor of bringing "True North" down from Dunedin.
Captain Tom Conrad was unable to skipper his boat due to terminal cancer.
Eddy and Jeff were blessed with good weather during the entire three day journey.

Linda, Skip, and Lolly use helpful visual aids to assist Captains Eddy & Jeff when docking "True North"

Tom proudly watches his beloved "True North" arrive safely while his wife, Patsy, gives Captain Eddy a big hug.

Tom and Patsy Conrad just after docking "True North" for the final time at Legacy Harbour.

Our "graduating class" gathers for a potluck the weekend before the Gold Loop festivities begin!

 We enjoyed days of connecting with old friends . . . . . .

. . . . . . and meeting new friends . . . . . .

 . . . . . . and more new friends . . . . . .

 . . . . . . and more old friends!

We felt especially blessed to celebrate with Tom and Patsy, truly an inspiration for all Loopers.

Tom and Patsy shared emotional final words with the group of 125 Gold Loopers who love, respect, and admire them dearly.

Eddy sharing a tender moment with his mentor as the Vets honor Tom for his Navy service.

We joined the Rays, another Gold Loop couple, to present "Our Loop Story" to 95 potential Loopers.
We hope to pay it forward with our passion and enthusiasm for our life-changing adventure.

Although it's been an emotionally-charged, fully-involved January, we pause to enjoy a dramatic ending.

Bringing in the New Year!

The morning we departed Ft Myers Beach, we sadly motored past this burnt boat across from Spiritus.
We had heard fire sirens during the night and this explains what the commotion was all about.

We waved goodbye to Ft Myers Beach as we proceeded through the channel to the Caloosahatchee River.

A first for us . . . . . a floating bait shop on the Caloosahatchee River.
We watched lots of fishing boats stop for essentials . . . . . bait and beer!

The Captain didn't need to stop at the floating bait shop because the First Mate served him left-over pizza for lunch!

Spiritus feels like she has returned home as she enters the Legacy Harbour Marina in downtown Ft Myers.

The "decorating committee" got their happy on as they created centerpieces for the New Year's eve party.

Looper friends gathered at Jeff & Lolly's condo, adjacent our marina, to bring in the New Year.
At midnight, the champagne flowed and the fireworks glowed!

Happy 2015!  Yes, we made lots of noise and were creative with our fun props!

On New Year's Day we watched THREE football games . . . . . . .

. . . . . . . and all three of our southern teams lost!!

Love being at Legacy Harbour with our Looper friends and enjoying docktails at sunset together!
