More Merriment in Ft Myers

The annual "Sisters Reunion" over President's Day Weekend was held at Ft Myers Beach this year.
Mary flew in from New York, Maggie came all the way from Denver, and Brenda flew down from Washington D.C.
It was a magical three days!

Upon arrival, the ladies exchanged hugs with the guys before sending them on their way!!
"No Men Allowed" has always been their mantra during this exclusive event!

Linda's brother, Rich, spent the weekend with Eddy aboard Spiritus while the girls played at the beach.
That just meant more scotch for us!

And the sisters kept up with bloody mary's at the beach!!

Mom & Dad Pennington surprised the girls by having "treats" sent to their hotel room during the sisters' special weekend!
We have the best-ever parents!

The Edison Light Parade in Ft Myers is the largest night parade in the U.S.
Tens of thousands of spectators started claiming their viewing spots well before sunset to watch the 75th anniversary of this event.

Even the world's most famous horses, The Budweiser Clydesdales, came to celebrate!

A visit to the Ford & Edison Winter Estates will give you a glimpse of life in the early 1900s.
Edison bought this home in the 1890's.

Thanks to his wonderful invention, the light bulb, Edison's house was more than adequately lighted.
By opening large french doors on all four sides of the house, breezes from the Caloosahatchee River provided cool, soothing air.

Fireplaces, like the one in this bedroom, are proof that the weather isn't always warm & balmy here!

Edison's workshop, on the grounds of his winter home.
His genius brain was always engaged, even when he was "relaxing"!

Henry Ford bought the home right next to his mentor, Thomas Edison.

Model T Fords, of course!

Our friends, Ruth & Don, drove down from Pinellas County to spend a couple days with us.
We all strike a pose on the beautiful rooftop of the Firestone Bar & Grill.

During a visit to Manatee Park, Captain Eddy coaxed a friend out of the water to pose for this shot!

These slow-moving creatures enjoy the warm water of the Caloosahatchee River.

Not the Southern Most Point in the U.S.!!!!
Great live music, warm sunshine, tasty food & cold, cold beer at Woody's on Pine Island!

Ruth & Don take advantage of the live, toe-tapping music to "show their stuff" on the dancefloor!

After spending almost two months at Ft Myers Beach, fellow Loopers Mike & Cindy finally cut their lines and headed up the river to join us in Ft Myers!
They stayed so long at The Beach, Mike was named "Volunteer of the Quarter" at the city library!

Yes, it's February . . . . . . . . .

. . . . . . . . and flowers are still blooming!

What a privilege to share time with long-time friends like Dwight & Terri, who flew down from Atlanta for a quick visit!

Popping the cork of some "bubbly" on Spiritus!

Toasting to dear friends, memorable times, and a good life!

This banyan tree, the largest on the continental U.S., covers one entire acre!

We tried, but millionaires apparently don't let "trawler trash" onto their estates!

But our friends say money can't buy our FUN personalities!

Keeping warm in Ft Myers

Did I mention that Linda celebrates her birthday ALL month?!  Her flowers continue to bring smiles!

Looper friends gathered for food, fellowship, & fun on "Knot So Fast" ... another super party!

"Girls Just Want To Have Fun" ... and fun they had!!

The Captains were proud to be the "Catch Phrase Champions"!!!

We love walking our docks & hearing these mockingbirds ... the Florida state bird.

Every Thursday we gather at Legacy Harbour's Chickee Hut for a potluck dinner.

Is it about the movie or the bottomless tub of popcorn?!

Linda was thrilled to reunite with her special Wet Hen sailing sister, Jan Maiocco.  Happiness overload!

The Henpeckers tried to keep up with the non-stop talking & laughing.  Joe & Eddy succeeded!

This Henpecker loved being sandwiched between 2 of his favorite Hens!

Enjoyed a Children's Parade in downtown Ft Myers honoring Edison's birthday.
The dozens of floats were spectacular!!

No parade is complete without a clown to keep everyone laughing!

Seems like Florida clowns should be wearing flip-flops!

Chef Eddy christens his new barbecue grill on Spiritus with none other than Pork Chops!!!

We love the alfresco dining in Ft Myers.  There are so many outdoor cafes to entice us!

Linda's creative juices flow as she makes valentine treats for the wonderful staff at Legacy Harbour.

Happy Valentine's Day to all our family & friends.  Love it up!!

Fort Myers

We arrived at Legacy Harbour Marina in Ft Myers, Florida at the end of January.
This will be our "home port" for the next thirty days.

Ft Myers is known as The City of Palms.  It didn't take us long to figure out why!

Our first sunset at Legacy Harbour Marina, on the Caloosahatchee River.

This large, beautiful banyan tree in front of the county courthouse reminds us of Hawaii.

This oak tree was destroyed in a storm, but a local artist creatively carved a symbolic eagle into the remaining trunk.

Yes, it is February, and the warm temperatures here have the shrubs and flowers blooming.

UNCOMMON FRIENDS
Edison, Ford and Firestone
Fathers of the American Industrial Twentieth Century
The city pays regular homage to Edison & Ford who both had winter homes in Ft Myers.

Our Pensacola dock mates, Doug & Bev, from Sea Dog, join us at the Thursday morning Farmer's Market in Centennial Park.

A FIRST!
Linda went to a hair salon that is actually on a BOAT!

The view of the harbor from Linda's salon chair!

The birthday girl was served coffee in bed while she opened her many birthday wishes and surprises.
The Captain's job included providing fresh Kleenex while tears of joy streamed down her cheeks.

Flowers and an Edible Arrangement were delivered directly to Spiritus from her precious family
. . . . . .more Kleenex!

Before going out for her birthday dinner, Doug & Bev provide pupus and champagne in Linda's honor aboard Sea Dog.

The second time in six months that the Captain dons long pants!

Celebrating the prettiest and youngest girl to turn "a little over 59"!

No birthday of Linda's would be complete without an ice cream dessert!

No doggie bag is necessary!

The party continues after dinner with rooftop dancing at the Indigo Hotel Rooftop Lounge !

Ft Myers' annual Art Fest draws huge crowds over the weekend.  Over 800 artists and vendors fill the city waterfront district.

Local high school students created lots of "sidewalk" chalk art.

The longest VW Bug we've ever seen!

The longest legged girl we've ever seen!

Do you think this instrument sounds as good as it looks?

These talented musicians certainly sounded as good as they looked!
After being enthralled for nearly three hours, we were shocked to hear they had never performed together as a group until this event.

Fellow Loopers, Jeff & Lolly, hosted a Super Bowl party aboard their trawler, Not So Fast . . . . . complete with a surprise birthday cake for Linda!
